JOURNEYMAN PAINTER


SCHEDULED DAYS/HOURS: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

REPORTS TO: Master Carpenter

SALARY: Based on experience


GENERAL SUMMARY: Possess an advanced painting skill set and take initiative on the work site. Foresee what comes next on a project and work efficiently and productively throughout the day, selecting the proper finishes, equipment, and technique to provide the best-finished product for the job. Properly care for equipment and supplies and pay attention to detail for high-quality results. Be proficient at all Journeyman and Apprentice Painter skills. Demonstrates a commitment to the trade through investment in tools. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


SKILL LEVEL

  • Complete a cabinet job from start to finish, including numbering cabinets on site
  • Know the proper color, coating method, and materials being used
  • Know wood finishing, refinishing wood, and species characteristics
  • Know the proper phases of preparation and material usage, including stations and clear coats o Prepare all surfaces interior and exterior
  • Complete touch-ups on or off-site at Paint Shop
  • Answer any questions asked by a Painter as needed
  • Anticipate, identify, and evaluate potentially dangerous or unusual situations, and exercise appropriate judgment to establish priorities and take prompt action for problem resolution 

REQUIRED TOOLS: Must possess all painter tools as outlined on the attached list.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms. and use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel
  • Endure exposure to outdoor weather conditions and possible extreme temperatures, loud noise, fumes, and moving machinery
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, with or without assistance
  • Be accepting of continuous changes that will occur as the company grows and develops in the form of project type, project location, and the development of new company system.


STANDARDS:


POSITION SPECIFIC

  1. Review To-Do list in BT & check-off the items upon completion
  2. Complete work within the estimated labor hours
  3. Add or comment on a daily log of work performed on the job site, summarizing what was accomplished and adding photos when available
  4. Create a material list before the end of the workday and submit it to the Project Manager, when appropriate
