GENERAL SUMMARY

The Employee Development Coordinator for Staff Development plays a vital role in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and performance of CROSS team members. This position is key to fostering employee growth, supporting departmental effectiveness, and ensuring alignment with company goals all while contributing to a positive and high-performing workplace culture.

In addition to coordinating and delivering comprehensive orientation for all new hires, the Training Coordinator will identify, track, and assess training needs across departments. This includes planning, organizing, and evaluating internal training initiatives to ensure every team member has the tools and support needed for long-term success.


RESPONSIBILITIES


TRAINING

  • Plan and coordinate CROSS-training programs.
  • Research and suggest training programs that meet company goals by assessing training needs. This may involve developing manuals, online modules, and course content to boost individual skills and overall performance.
  • Review and assess training programs to ensure they are effective, up-to-date, and well-received by participants.
  • Ensure employees are trained in organizational policies, industry standards, and compliance requirements at Orientation and on an annual basis.
  • Organize safety OSHA training with relevant staff.
  • Manage Continuing Education Unit (CEU) training needed for various certifications in different positions.
  • Identify organizations that can supply Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and recommend tailored training programs (e.g., workshops, seminars, e-learning modules) to address specific skills or knowledge gaps.
  • Locate and recommend leadership and career development programs for high-potential employees.
  • Locate and recommend leadership development programs for upper and mid-level managers.
  • Develop a training passport for all employees and the various positions at CROSS and conduct regular updates as changes arise.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

  • Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture to determine organizational goals and staff development priorities.
  • Communicate the value and outcomes of training programs to the DOPC.
  • Work alongside Client & Staff Relations to coordinate programs for new hires to ensure they quickly integrate into the organization.
  • Track employee progress and assess the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Collaborate with department managers to evaluate current skill levels and identify gaps.
  • Use tools like surveys and performance evaluations to assess employee needs.
  • Work with Department Managers to arrange skill-specific training, CEUs, and lunch and learn sessions.
  • Coordinate with the Client & Staff Relations to organize orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Schedule meetings after 90 days with new employees and their managers to review the onboarding process and training effectiveness.
  • Oversee the entire onboarding process to ensure a positive experience and a smooth transition for all new hires.

STANDARDS


POSITION SPECIFIC

  • Ensure that all new employees have a training plan based on their specific role, and it is coordinated within System Hub with a timeframe.
  • Ensure that new employees have been successfully oriented to their role at CROSS on the first day of employment.
  • Ensure all new hires complete onboarding training programs 100% by day 90.

The Employee Development Coordinator  plays a pivotal role in enhancing employee skills, driving performance, and aligning talent development with company goals. This role oversees training and onboarding, identifies learning gaps, and implements tailored programs to support growth across departments. You'll help employees reach their full potential, starting from Day 1 and continuing through every phase of their career at CROSS.


Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or HR-related roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Organizational and problem-solving expertise.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and performance evaluation tools a plus.

1. Experience in Training & Development

  • Proven track record of creating, coordinating, and facilitating training programs.
  • Experience working with adult learners and various learning styles.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training analytics tools.

2. Onboarding & Integration Expertise

  • Demonstrated success leading onboarding programs that support employee retention and early engagement.
  • Ability to design structured orientation experiences and conduct follow-up assessments (e.g., 30/60/90-day check-ins).

3. Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Comfortable presenting in front of groups and working across departments.
  • Approachable, empathetic, and a natural relationship builder.

4. Strategic Thinking & Collaboration

  • Ability to align training and development plans with organizational goals.

  • Strong judgment when identifying skill gaps and recommending appropriate interventions.

  • Skilled at tracking training metrics and evaluating program success.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple development plans simultaneously.
  • Proficient in planning, documenting, and reporting on learning outcomes.

6. Knowledge of Best Practices

  • Familiarity with adult learning theory, instructional design, and continuous education requirements (e.g., CEUs, OSHA training).
  • Understanding of compliance and industry standards in a construction or professional services environment is a plus.
