We are seeking a Residential Construction Estimator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment and is passionate about balancing cost efficiency, design intent, and production feasibility in every project.

 

Position Overview


The Residential Construction Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, timely, and complete project estimates that align with CROSS's quality standards and operational systems. This role builds strong relationships with trade partners, vendors, and internal teams while leading the Estimating Team through effective communication, accountability, and collaboration.


You will play a key role in building project budgets, managing trade partner relationships, and guiding your team with LMA (Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable) principles to ensure project success.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead, Manage, and Support the Estimating Team

  • Conduct quarterly reviews and annual evaluations to identify growth and training needs.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and professional development of estimating staff.
  • Establish consistent training and process alignment within the department.

Trade Partner and Vendor Relations

  • Collaborate with Production Managers to source and recommend qualified trade partners.
  • Manage and maintain accurate, up-to-date trade partner pricing.
  • Lead trade partner meetings to confirm scopes and gather accurate bids.
  • Develop procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, and efficiency.

Project Budgeting and Estimating

  • Review plans, specifications, and scope to ensure accuracy and buildability.
  • Perform material and labor take-offs; analyze past project data for cost accuracy.
  • Assemble project budgets and documentation for seamless production handoff.
  • Oversee the permit process and ensure city compliance.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with Design and Production Teams to identify project challenges and solutions.
  • Contribute to value engineering and feasibility discussions.
  • Partner with IT to enhance software tools that improve estimating efficiency. 


Performance Standards

  • Deliver vendor and trade partner quotes within 5 business days.
  • Maintain cost variance within 5% between estimated and actual project costs.
  • Document weekly project updates and maintain 70% billable time on client projects.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, deliverables, and contracts in alignment with client expectations.

  • Proven experience in residential remodeling, estimating, and detailed take-offs.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor pricing.
  • Expertise in vendor negotiation and procurement strategy.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Collaborative communicator with a solution-driven mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable (LMA) team members.
