DESIGN ASSISTANT - Internship

SCHEDULED DAYS/HOURSMonday-Friday, Business - Max 30 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Director of Design


GENERAL SUMMARY:  The Design Assistant at CROSS exists to create structure, clarity, and continuity within the Design Department. This role ensures that residential remodeling projects move smoothly from concept through completion by supporting the design process with accurate documentation, organized workflows, and timely coordination. By maintaining order behind the scenes, the Design Assistant helps uphold CROSS' standards of luxury, precision, and an exceptional client experience--allowing Designers to focus on creative leadership and client relationships.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Design & Project Support

  • Assist Designers with the preparation of design presentations, selections, and client meetings
  • Create and maintain digital folders and specification documents
  • Coordinate finish, fixture, material, and product selections
  • Prepare purchase orders, pricing summaries, and selection logs
  • Track design decisions and ensure timely approvals
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and installations with the design team as needed

Administrative & Coordination Support

  • Schedule meetings, showroom visits, and vendor appointments
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams regarding selections and availability
  • Maintain organized project files in design and project management systems
  • Assist with documentation required for project handoffs to Production

Vendor & Showroom Relations

  • Order samples and manage sample library organization
  • Coordinate product lead times, backorders, and substitutions
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and showrooms
  • Confirm pricing accuracy and availability before client presentations

Quality & Brand Standards

  • Ensure all design materials align with the CROSS brand standards and luxury expectations
  • Support the accuracy and completeness of all design documentation
  • Assist with final design checks before client sign-off and construction start
  • Participate in Networking Opportunities
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with vendors and clients
  • Identify new selection material vendors and assist in the vetting process
  • Stay up to date with current costs and trends for building and design materials
